The official Kick-Off Meeting of the MicroPower Project took place on October 19, 2023, marking the beginning of this pioneering research initiative. The Kick-Off Meeting was initiated by the Principal Investigator (PI), Assistant Professor Ioannis Fotidis, who welcomed all attendees, including consortium members, external collaborators, and various participants. He began by acknowledging that the research project is implemented within the framework of the H.F.R.I. call “Basic Research Financing (Horizontal Support of All Sciences)” under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0,” funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU (H.F.R.I. Project Number: 15547). Principal Investigator (PI), Assistant Professor Ioannis Fotidis emphasized the importance of the project in the field of anaerobic digestion (AD) and bioaugmentation strategies, outlining the vision and core objectives of the project.
The MicroPower project’s vision was established and the project’s objectives were presented to the participants. In addition, the Project’s Concept was elaborated on by providing a schematical image with all the procedures and steps to achieve. The Novel bioaugmentation strategy this project develops, researches, evaluates, and tests, was highlighted, which is specialized bacterial and methanogenic consortia that will in-situ improve hydrolysis and alleviate ammonia toxicity in anaerobic reactors. An overall overview of the MicroPower project work plan was implemented by presenting all the work packages, explaining what actions and tasks will be performed in each Work Package. Finally, the MicroPower team, as core members, partners, or external collaborators, was introduced and everyone committed to a smooth project implementation with professional level collaboration from all sides.
The Kick-off meeting video will be uploaded on the Youtube platform to increase the Micropower project’s Visibility and Publicity.
